There are 7 steps to configure VLANs, VTP and DTP. So let take a look step by step. Address Table

Step 1: Verify and configure on VLANs a. show vlan brief is the command use to show configuration VLANs detail, such as VLANs number, Port and status of VLANs.

Step 2: Configure Trunk on Switch 1, 2 and Switch 3 To configure trunk it means allow multi VLANs access to the network. a. On S1 and S2 configure trunk link on G0/1

b. Configure trunk link between S1 & S2 on the interface G0/2

c. To verify trunking configured all using command show interface trunk

d. Configure VLAN 999 as the native VLAN for the trunk links on S1

Step 2: Configure and verify VTP a. configure VTP Server on S1 using domain name CCNA domain with the password cisco.

Step 3: Verify VTP on S1 To verify VTP status use the command show vtp status

To verify VTP password use the command show vtp password

Step 4: Add the S2 and S3 to the VTP domain Use the command

vtp mode client
vtp domain CCNA
vtp domain CCNA
vtp password cisco

a. Configure S3 to be in the CCNA VTP domain with the VTP password cisco. Switch S3 will be set in VTP transparent mode.

Step 5: Create VLANs 10, 20, 30 on S1

VLANs Number VLANs Name
10 Red
20 Blue
30 Yellow

a. Confirm configuration changes using the show vtp status command on S1 and S2 to confirm that the VTP mode and domain are configured correctly. Output for S2 is shown here:

Step 6: Assign VLANs to port

Ports Assignments Network
S2 F0/1 – 8 S3 F0/1 – 8 VLAN 10 (Red) /24
S2 F0/9 – 16 S3 F0/9 – 16 VLAN 20 (Blue) /24
S2 F0/17 – 24 S3 F0/17 – 24 VLAN 30 (Yellow) /24

Assign VLANs to port on S2 using command

interface range f0/1 – 8
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 10
interface range f0/9 -16
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 20
interface range f0/17 – 24
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 30
